The Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Coalition
Our Mission
Increase Awareness
Promote awareness of suicide as a critical public health issue, and support efforts in screening, early intervention, and postvention for individuals and communities affected by suicide.
Decrease Stigma
By connecting individuals and communities to trusted local, regional, and national suicide prevention and postvention resources.
Implement Programs
As a registered 501(c)(3), we annually provide $500-$4,000 grants through our Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Mini-Grant Program.
About The Coalition
The NSSPC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of dedicated and passionate volunteers from across the state, including public and private agencies, suicide loss survivors, and individuals committed to saving lives. Our Executive Board is made up of individuals from all walks of life, people who bring experience from military and veteran organizations, public health, hospitals, research, business, and suicide prevention and postvention advocacy. Each member brings a unique perspective, but we’re all united by one goal: preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it. NSSPC is honored to be recognized by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services as the state’s lead organization for coordinating suicide prevention efforts.
Through our Mini-Grant Program, NSSPC provides direct funding each year to support suicide prevention and postvention efforts across Nebraska. Grants ranging from $500 to $4,000 are awarded to local coalitions, LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Teams, schools, community organizations, and nonprofits to implement evidence-based and community-driven initiatives.
